**Ingredients:**
- 4-6 ripe tomatoes, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 baguette or Italian bread, sliced into 1/2-inch thick rounds
- Olive oil for brushing
- 1-2 cloves garlic, peeled (for rubbing on the toasted bread)
**Instructions:**
1. In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, extra-virgin olive oil, and balsamic vinegar (if using). Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Mix well and set aside.
2. Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Alternatively, you can use an oven broiler.
3. Brush the bread slices with olive oil on both sides.
4. Grill or broil the bread slices until they're lightly toasted and have grill marks, about 1-2 minutes on each side.
5. While the bread is still warm, rub one side of each slice with a peeled garlic clove. The warm bread will help release the garlic's flavor.
6. Spoon the tomato mixture onto the toasted side of each bread slice.
7. Arrange the bruschetta on a platter and garnish with additional fresh basil leaves.
8. Serve your homemade bruschetta as a delightful appetizer or a snack.
