Candy Cane Hot Chocolate

Nothing says holidays like Candy Cane Hot Chocolate. This creamy, frothy drink is the perfect treat to share with family and friends. Our recipe is simple, yet flavorful, with just a hint of peppermint to bring out the festive spirit. Try it out this holiday season and see for yourself.

**Ingredients:**

- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 2-3 candy canes, crushed
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
- Whipped cream, crushed candy canes, and chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)

**Instructions:**

1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the whole milk and heavy cream. Heat the mixture until it's hot but not boiling. Stir occasionally.

2. Add the semisweet chocolate chips to the hot milk and cream mixture. Stir continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy.

3. Crush the candy canes by placing them in a ziplock bag and using a rolling pin or the back of a spoon. Reserve some for garnish and add the rest to the hot chocolate mixture.

4. Stir in the crushed candy canes, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Continue to heat the mixture while stirring until it's well combined.

5. Once the hot chocolate is ready, remove it from the heat.

6. Pour the Candy Cane Hot Chocolate into mugs.

7. If desired, top each mug with a dollop of whipped cream, a sprinkle of crushed candy canes, and some chocolate shavings.
